New database allows Yorkshire residents to advertise homes as TV and film locations following the success of Gentleman Jack and Marvel’s Secret Invasion

Calderdale Council has launched a new database which allows property owners in the borough to nominate their home or business as a potential filming location.

People with a property they want to promote simply need to fill out a form on the website and include a number of images.

According to Film Calderdale, producers and filmmakers are looking for all kinds of filming locations, from apartments and townhouses to big houses, farms, empty land and mills.

Hit drama Gentleman Jack was filmed in Calderdale

Registering a property on the database is free and there is no obligation to participate in any future filming.

If a property is of interest to a project, a scout would visit the location to ensure that it matches the director’s vision.

If a property is selected for filming, the payout tends to vary depending on production and filming disruption.

According to the council, demand for locations in the borough is increasing following the successful filming of a number of projects, including Gentleman Jack, The Gallows Pole and Marvel’s Secret Invasion.

Councilor Jane Scullion, a member of Calderdale’s Council Cabinet for Regeneration and Strategy, said: “Calderdale has a growing reputation as an ideal filming location for film companies.

“We received fantastic feedback on how accommodating we were, going the extra mile to ensure filming went smoothly.

“The resulting productions were a brilliant showcase for the borough and also gave a real boost to our visitor economy.
